theres literally no room for them to go up so either another two nice papers and they stay the same or they give us something diabolical now and they go down, no point stressing rn when we've only done one paper

yeah thats a good point actually but im not worried the A* will go higher but that A-C will compress and there'll be less room between them , youre right though, cant control it

Hardest thing they can ask is the practical 1 markers which no one gets right

Can you give an example? I need to revise that lmao

Sorry but that's the point lol, the practical 1 markers r so random that u literally cannot revise for them lol, it's like a 30% chance u randomly guess the answer correctly

yes why were the bio papers so different to past years??? they were kinda easier (i think) but i was so rattled by the change in structure that im certain i blew it

thats what i am worried about, A* will be around 2 marks higher per paper, but between A and B it would fall to 5 marks in between them or something

there was like a good 10-15 marks between grades on each paper last year its not gonna change that much, no way of knowing anyway we've only sat one paper the next two might be horrific

do we need to know how to draw mechanism for hydration of alkenes to make alcohol

Reply 56

They better not raise the boundaries. 90% for an A* is high enough (but this is OCR, and I suspect after paper 1 they'll be giving their best shot).

Reply 57

does anyone know if we need to know how do draw the mechanism for alkene hydration to make an alcohol?

Don't think so...but on the off chance we do, isn't it just electrophilic addition like with HBr? But with a Ni catalyst ofc
