It was about experimentation with language is crucial for language development, or something along those lines anyways lmao

guys tell me why i completely messed up the 20 mark comparison question, i only wrote one paragraph for text a and one for text b, and didnt even analyse the quotes i just focused solely on the difference in context, i feel like i really screwed up the paper because i had psychology in the morning today and prioritised that for revision...

I had psychology too this morning and I feel like my brain was so scrambled for this exam😖

Anyone think the child language written question was mean or not normally expected ? Speaking about children being experimental which had nothing to do with the common theory that comes up like nurture etc so had to bring it into my theory, usually most years the questions alternate but haven’t seen the paper do this before . Anyway hope everyone has done well I think I managed the question affectively
Definitely was an unpleasant surprise when I saw it. They do usually do questions that are explicitely nature vs nurture but I have seen questions where it’s not immediately clear (eg. how important are age-appropriate toys to language development). I think they wanted people to initially see experimentation as nurture or go into how experimentation is a mix of nature and nurture (eg. playing with MKOs, internalisation of grammar and semantics). I found it a bit of a curveball but managed it alright

i think you’ll be fine!! question 3 is only 20 marks so it’s probably better that you didn’t do loads and waste time on it, as long as your points were pretty solid and you analysed language then that’s all they can ask for 👍👍 quality not quantity!!

Something to with Captain Cook who I thought sounded like Captain Hook and his relation to colonialism, etc text b was basically some guy praising him

Text A was an online article from the Mail online in 2020 https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8424545/Thousands-call-Captain-Cook-statue-REMOVED-links-colonialism-genocide.html. - text B was an extract from a book written in 1808 about the history of a certain place and was basically just saying he was amazing
