We did it as part of change topic. There wasn't loads on it, we looked at 2 case studies and some models of world English and reasons for English as a global language. Happy to send you my notes if you don't have any.

Ah cool ty! Emailed my teacher and she hasn't replied so that would be great if you could send them, thanks so much

I have been taught to do intro and then 4/5 paragraphs going in detail on the similarities and differences with lang analysis so like compare one thing per paragraph

If anyone is interested, I have a document full of theorist and how they link to each other on language diversity which I found very helpful. If anyone is interested here you go 🙂

Really important question I need help with: In Q4, how is everyone relating Text A and Text B without explicitly saying 'Text an and Text b?' how exactly do you go about this while still making reference to the texts? I asked my tutors but they weren't very helpful.

I was wondering the same, what happens if we don't link at all? Is it necessary?

Hey im pretty sure that was the year before.. occupation is yet to be on the spec at all and world Englishes havent been on in a long time!! And ofc language change will be a question, what are your predictions?

I’m also thinking Occupation, or world englishes. I’d love a language change question though!

Has there been one on technology?

I’m not sure. What do you mean by technology? Like unexplainable language change, such as ‘owned’ to ‘owned’ when people type?

Sorry, that wasn't clear. I meant has there been a language change question in relation to technology rather then its decay, diffusion , control, etc?

Ahh okay, sorry I’m not actually sure. Just double checking but is there always a question on language change?

i usually quote something from text a and b and use it to either support or challenge the overall idea, for example in one of my articles i wrote 'Other linguists, prescriptivists notably, utterly disagree like one John Sutherland, who claims that “we don’t handle language with care any more.”' which was a direct quote from the article!! idk if that makes sense but thats what i usually do

Oh perfect, that makes sense. So it's mainly about picking little lines from the texts for Q4? Got it. Also, how many paragraphs would you do for Q4, is there a specific structure you work through?
