Not sure if you're interested for practicing for paper 2 but I found the answer booklets online, definitely gonna try gear how much I want to write so I'm not panicking: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://www.cambridgeinternational.org/Images/461996-supplementary-answer-booklet-exam-day-form-13.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwiF64ihuKeNAxXwVkEAHeyYC8wQFnoECGYQAQ&usg=AOvVaw2WV5iwJY7NCNC0YM5o37MF

Yesterday was so bad for me icl,,,,, i overran my hamlet by half an hour and only had 45 minutes for my Ibsen/rossetti paragraphs…… im so distraught i spent all last night throwing up in the shower :frown:((( timekeeping has never been my strong suit. Im praying that the quality of my hamlet pulls me back

Please don't doubt yourself!!! And paper 1 is only 1/3 parts of our whole a level. I'm sure paper 2 will be better.

hello, a parent here! I am going to write to OCR today [email protected] We have looked and in other subjects for ocr they change the boundaries depending on the text (eg with history) but do not for English. Looking at social media it looks like Hamlet was particularly horrific questions and unexpected format which does not feel fair at all and threw so many students for the next question too. I would encourage as many people / teachers to do the same if they feel the same way

Do you think if a student complains there’s any chance that they could reduce my marks based on me complaining about them (irrational I know but still I’m scared they’ll hate me)

I'm not an expert or anything but I'm completely sure that they wouldn't do that, they get loads of complaints every year but I've never seen any instance of them taking marks away, also in the exam guidelines they're only allowed to take marks off for cheating etc, so definitely email you're all good

Hello, totally understand but no this would not happen. I did not get a chance to email today but I will do on Monday. I think just explaining the impact and that the question was not as expected is fine. It is a very large professional organisation. All the best with paper 2. Take care

YES! I can’t find anyone else bahaha x I thought part A was quite good and part B was a good question but it was hard to choose what to write about!! Because the question was quite vague I talked mainly about how Shakespeare not only uses misunderstandings as a plot catalyst / source of humour but also to create undertones of darkness and cruelty (eg malvolio and also the pain Viola’s disguise causes her) x what did you talk about??

omg i NEVER see any twelfth night people in these discussion threads, no wonder they’re taking it off the spec
part A was really good! i actually predicted it’d be act 2 scene 5, but i didn’t get to do any preparation for it because i was busy cramming critical quotes for part B 😭 my overall argument was how the inversion of the social order (basically the lower class character, maria, being in control) , customary of the actual twelfth night tradition, is reinforced through the letter (the servant maria commanding the steward of the house to do stuff by usurping the power of the countess olivia’s voice and handwriting) and the group dynamic of sir toby and co. (his whole ‘can you step on my neck’ and ‘i can be your bond-slave’ or whatever 💀)
for part B, i had to sort of dance around the actual quote just to fit the critics i remembered but legit i had the same points as you LOLL misunderstandings surrounding viola and malvolio being both comedia and tragic- i can go in more detail if you’d like but that’s basically it!!

Yes I did the opposite actually I didn’t really use the wording of the quote…. Oh well 😩. I do Duchess of Malfi and Paradise lost and my 3 points were:

Pessimistic Malcontent characters who are negative towards the socially imposed hierarchy

Pessimistic attitudes of women towards patriarchal society

Pessimistic attitudes of men towards women (particularly pessimism towards female sexuality in the case of Ferdinand in DofM)

I wouldn’t worry . I do the same books and you and wrote similair things 😭 let’s just pray for decent results 😂
