i do twelfth night and earnest as well! what are your predictions?

Maybe the subplot with Sir Toby and Sir Andrew for the extract? Potentially Olivia for part B. Really not sure on part C but I don't feel like I have enough information to make a good guess - there's practically no one making predictions for comedy. Do you have any thoughts on part C?

i agree, i think itll be 2.5 for the extract and then potentially a question about comic archetypes/buffoonish behaviour for section c! my teacher thinks it could be about longsuffering women for section c and maybe disguise for section b

spitballing predictions for AQA Aspects of Tragedy:

Othello:

extract = v. ii (no idea what theme, just confused that it hasn't shown up before despite being so significant in relation to tragedy)

question + extract on reputation (ii. iii - cassio is demoted "reputation, reputation, reputation! o' i have lost my reputation"). previous questions have been character-based so i'm throwing a hail mary that AQA decides it's time for a theme now + jealousy and manipulation seem overplayed and i'm not betting on those, but i'm sure we'd be able to manage with those.

someone said comedic aspects of tragedy - which was terrifying, but also not out of the ballpark seeing as AQA is insane. for that question, i'd assume the most obvious extract would be iii. iv with the clown OR v. i with roderigo's ironic and tragicomic realisation of iago's true intentions.

i'd also just revise women in relation to tragedy at large, since it would border on both a thematic and character-based question, which AQA might decide to do instead of jumping to a theme question.

Section C:
i do tess and death of a salesman, and right now i'm leaning towards a villainy based question i.e. the villains are not inherently evil/society causes tragic downfall, not villains/etc.

but i would also check up on common themes like idealism and pride too. not keen on a settings/environment/nature question but god knows.

anyone got other predictions?

Good luck for tomorrow everyone!! Praying it’s nice questions and extracts for us all 🤞. I’d honestly love ANYTHING BUT COMEDY for Othello and I feel like villains or loss identity would be PERFECT for section C but I guess we’ll see soon. I hope it all goes well for you all !! xx

I have no clue honestly lol!! But gosh, me too. English is my most dreaded exam and I'm ****ing myself in nerves

Reputation was the 2023 question so I think it is quite unlikely tbh.

Violence or identity could be quite good ones to look at

what is the significance of this scene would you say?

Hello! I’ll give you some ideas. The scene opens and the characters have arrived in Cyprus (note the importance in the change of setting)- I’ll take the conversation between Iago, Desdemona, Emilia and Cassio as my example. Note the sexually explicit use if Iagos language and how this contrasts his conversation with Othello in act 1 scene 2 shows his duplicity and establishes him as a villain. Additionally his mysoginy suggest the pressure of external forces on the tragic out come of the play- link to context for race and patriarchy too. Chaos appears rife in the scene with once again Iagos language, their location and Iagos shift in social position- he thrives in Cyprus. Finally the role of the women as the tragic victims (which yes links to mysoginy again). Sorry this is so rushed and short but I hope this helps and good luck!!!

If it is a question about Emilia, what are we even supposed to talk about?

I would talk about the transformation of her character. Initially she appears submissive to her husband and we see her as potentially antagonistic (she steals desdemonas handkerchief) HOWEVER act 4 scene 1 shows a shift in her character. She watches Othello strike desdemona and becomes a symbol of female solidarity. Ultimately she is victimised for her transgressive views though as she is killed- so she is also a tragic victim to men

Hi guys. I do Tragedy; othello, death of a salesman and Tess of the d'urbervilles. How well is everyone prepared for the exams? because im soo tired of revising and it seems nothing is going in anymore. i have not revised tess yet and im dreading it as its such a big long book impossible to really narrow it down.

I'm a bit nervous as there is so much in these texts 😭

I did so well in the exam until I realised I didn't talk about a Keats poem for death of a salesman when I got back. What band am I limited to? How badly have I ****ed my chances?

OMG I HATED IT, loads of my friends said they found it hard to write about as we found we could talk about so much stuff but I wouldn't really link well with the question. I was kinda stressing
