Idk if my response sent but I had the willow song extract, then I did the murder question and then for the comparitive for Tess and DoaS I did family but I hated both questions I got to pick from

Reply 41

Really hoping they reduce grade boundaries ):

Reply 42

The willow song as the Othello extract really threw me off😭I loved the section C errors in judgment for Keats and salesman and the Othello essay on murder and killing was meh

Reply 43

The willow song for the Othello extract really threw me off and the murder and killing Othello question was okay but I expected a question like that more for crime hahahaha and the error in judgment was a beautiful question actually

Reply 44

Just hope paper 2 will be favourable so the possibility of a good grade will be within reach

People who did Othello, what did you think of the section A extract? screwed me over icl, not a lot of aspects of tragedy except desdemonas tragic victimhood/ innocence and the pity evoked for her.

I talked about how Othello no longer sees her as an equal and tells her what to do. I also talked about Emilia and how she was Desdemona's loyal companion and how her leaving her foreshadows her involvement into her downfall as she is leaving her and has given the handkerchief to iago, unknowingly impacting D's marriage. For the song I talked about how sycamores are a symbol of love and can foreshadow bad stuff (although I got that bit wrong, but mainly it's about protection for bad things) and then I talked about desdemonas marriage being doomed from the beginning and how she is vulnerable

ye i also talked about how low key emilia is responsible for Desdemonas death cause she gave the handkerchief, her laying the bedsheets ritualises her involvement in the murder further

thought comedy was alright, but i don’t think i did great on the extract and i defo misquoted something for section b😭courtship was sooo good for twelfth night and bad behaviour/getting away with it was fab for section c but i ran out of tiiiimeeee

Othello section B was so bad like I'm not sure how you could be perceptive for either question really?

Reply 50

I am so glad I am not the only one, who didn't think it went well. I don't know what happened but I just flopped it. So now hoping paper 2 is nice and I can do that well enough to boost my grade, and that the grade boundaries are nice. I also did Othello, and I talked about similar things for the extract. I think my points were good but I couldn't seem to think of ways it links to tragedy other than her victimhood. My second question was "Explore the significance of killing and murder" in Othello. That I spoke about how those who killed others did so because of the destructive impact of jealousy (their hamartias) how those who were killed were victims of societal hierarchies, and how Iago's survival at the end was tragic. But I feel like I didn't explain myself too well. For the last question I chose "Explore the significance of error of judgements," I talked about idealisation, false beliefs and wrongful perceptions with Tess and Willy. But again, I don't think I was very clear.

That was not good. I couldn't seem to link it to tragedy that well. For the Othello extract, I talked about how desdemona was presented at the beginning to how in the extract she is submissive. I talked about how the willow song foreshadows her fate and her victimhood. For the second question, "Explore the significance of murder and killing" I talked about those who killed showed the destructive power of jealousy (their hamartias) and also talked about a significant part of the tragedy is how Iago survives. Then for the comparison, I don't think went so bad, I chose "Explore the significance of the error of judgement" I spoke about naive perceptions, idealisation and false beliefs.

yeah this is so true i did the murder and killing question and there were so many different reasons why murder and killing were important that I didn't really know how to tie it together. It was a tough one

Our teacher said the willow scene would never come up 😭 I thought it would’ve been the extract at the start of A5,S2 ‘it is the cause, it is the cause’.
Section B was alright and Section C was pretty awful

yeah me too our teacher hardly went over the willow song and just gave brief overview of its significance in relation to the larger tragedy but not an individual breakdown of it i hated this extract so much omfg.

Reply 57

AQA B was awful can we agree???? What a horrendous paper.

Reply 58

I'm glad everyone agrees this paper was awful, I think it's the worst paper since 2020 since that's the oldest past paper I can find. Section B I went outside the box and said murder wasn't significant because that's the only way I could find to be perceptive and my families question was a MESS
