Literally, the 16m and 10mark questions were worded so weirdly just hoping that the short answers pull through, barely anyone finished!

I don’t do powers and boarders but do human rights instead but yeah I rlly hope it’s migration I don’t know human rights well enough to write a 16 marker atp

I predict that either SEC or past/present connections will be the CSMP 16 marker. birmingham sorted. 8 marker will be on a figure but i doubt it will be on social inequality. last years CSMP 8 marker was on regeneration/rebranding so it could again also be around there. idk ****all for the 6 marker its gonna be smth random. i need to lock in for the 3 and 6 markers since i can lose **** easy marks on those. theres a 50-50 chance that human rights is another 16 marker again and migration is a set of shorter questions.

Been human rights 16 marker for past two years. So more likely to be a migration 16 marker this year.

Hi lovelies, I have some CSMP predictions for Paper 2:

1) How flows of people, ideas, technology and resources can shape the identity of a place over time including factors like demographic, socio-economic, political and the built environment.

2) How connections shape the identity of place in regional, national, international and global scales

3) Explain the complexities that exist when trying to define place vs space This could be a 6 or 16 marker.

4) How informal representations of a place differ through contrasting media such as TV, film, music, art, photography, literature, graffiti and blogs.

5) Identify how formal and statistical representations of a place, such as census and geospatial data, contrasts with informal representations.

6). How far do you agree that the processes of economic change can create opportunities for some while creating and exacerbating social inequality for others (16).

7) Global connections and globalisation in structural economic change (the idea of deindustrialisation and the rise of the service sector) You can bring in the case study of Birmingham here.

8) How structural economic change impacts patterns of social opportunities and inequality for people and places.

9) How cyclical economic change (booms and recessions) has varied impacts on social opportunities and inequality.

10) The role of government in reducing, reinforcing and creating patterns of social inequality in places. It has never been asked before. So the idea of subsidies, taxation, education, planning. This could 100% be a 16 marker so it’s worth revising this it’s never been asked.

11) Case study of one country or region that has been impacted by structural economic change, including:
socio-economic, demographic, cultural and environmental characteristics of the place before the economic change
the economic change/changes that took place and the role of players involved in driving the change
demographic, cultural and environmental impacts on people and place --> Could just ask one factor

12) The concept of placemaking and how governments and organisations attempt to present places to the wider world to attract inward investment and regeneration.

13) The role of players in driving economic change, NOT structural economic change, just general economic change (local, national governments, TNCs, MNCs)

14) How architects and planners attempt to create meaningful and authentic places through design, such as places that encourage mixed community use or the 24-hour city Could be a 6 marker explaining the concept of the 24-hour city.

15) How local community groups shape the place they live, such as residents' associations, heritage associations and social media Again, could easily be a 6-mark question. Talk about online forums, social media, neighbourhood watch, digital placemaking.

I think there could be a 16-marker comparing both planners/architects to local community groups something like: “To what extent do you agree that local community groups are more influential than planners and architects in shaping meaningful and authentic places?”

16) How and why some groups of people contest efforts to rebrand a place. I think this could be a 6 marker so it’s worth revising this: Using a case study of a place that has undergone rebranding, how and why some groups of people contest efforts to rebrand a place (6).

17) Case study of one place that has undergone rebranding inclduing;
why the place needed to rebrand
strategy/strategies involved in the rebranding of the place
how the rebranding has altered people’s perception of that place
the relative success of the rebranding --> Possible question on success vs failures??

Figure questions could be on photographs, OS Maps, flow-line maps, ensure you are familiar using and reading grid references and coordinates, appreciate how qualitative approaches actively create particular place representations , be able to analyse the impacts of different media on place meanings and perceptions, ensure you are confident with the use of geospatial data to present place characteristics and finally understand how quantitative data is used to present place characteristics.

Hi lovelies, I have some CSMP predictions for Paper 2:

1.

How flows of people, ideas, technology and resources can shape the identity of a place over time.

2.

Explain the complexities that exist when trying to define place vs space This could be a 6 or 16 marker.

3.

How sexuality, religion, and role can influence how and why people perceive places in different ways Though I think this is not as likely to come up, as last year there was a 6-mark question on gender.

4.

Formal vs informal agencies. It hasn’t come up in a while.

5.

I don’t think social inequalities will come up. It was an 8-mark question in 2023 and a 16-marker in 2024.

6.

Global connections and globalisation in structural economic change (the idea of deindustrialisation and the rise of the service sector) You can bring in the case study of Birmingham here.

7.

How structural economic change impacts patterns of social opportunities and inequality for people and places.

8.

Definitely, definitely the role of government in reducing, reinforcing and creating patterns of social inequality in places. It has never been asked before. So the idea of subsidies, taxation, education, planning. This could 100% be a 16 marker so it’s worth revising this it’s never been asked.

9.

I would definitely revise structural economic change the case study (Birmingham):

Socio-economic, demographic, cultural and environmental characteristics of the place before the economic change

The economic change/changes that took place and the role of players involved in driving the change

Socio-economic, demographic, cultural and environmental impacts on people and place

1.

The role of players in economic change, NOT structural economic change, just general economic change (local, national governments, TNCs, etc.)

2.

Placemaking processes and how governments and organisations attempt to present places to the wider world to attract inward investment and regeneration.

3.

How architects and planners attempt to create meaningful and authentic places through design, such as places that encourage mixed community use or the 24-hour city Could be a 6 marker explaining the concept of the 24-hour city.

4.

How local community groups shape the place they live, such as residents' associations, heritage associations and social media Again, could easily be a 6-mark question. Talk about online forums, social media, neighbourhood watch, digital placemaking.

I think there could be a 16-marker comparing both planners/architects to local community groups something like: “To what extent do you agree that local community groups are more influential than planners and architects in shaping meaningful and authentic places?”

1.

Why places rebrand through reimaging and regeneration to construct a different place meaning.

2.

Strategies used to rebrand places, such as sport, art, heritage, retail, architecture and food.

3.

I think this could be a 6 marker so it’s worth revising this: Using a case study of a place that has undergone rebranding, how and why some groups of people contest efforts to rebrand a place (6).

4.

Other things for rebranding could be:

Why the place needed to rebrand

Strategy/strategies involved in the rebranding of the place

How the rebranding has altered people’s perception of that place

The relative success of the rebranding

1.

I can’t really predict the figure questions they could be on anything ranging from OS maps to flowline maps, literally anything. The questions for these could be on any of the above.

I'm a PGCE student and will be marking for the OCR exam board this year in uni A-level papers specifically, so I work very closely with schools. Last year I predicted all the small questions for CSMP and migration. I guessed the 16 marker correctly for P&B also. So take this with a pinch of salt these are predictions at the end of the day. Because these exam boards have become so established, eventually they will have to recycle questions, so don’t take risks, guys. If you want my predictions for PB, HR, trade and migration let me know. And if you guys need help with any questions or anything, please please let me know. You guys will cook paper 2!!!

Thank u so much omg and yes please could you give predicted questions for HR and migration
