y'all be answering those questions better than i did. i said that standard deviation was low because the number was low LMAO, and i still stand by what i said about that 16 marker for coasts. yes, i understood and used the case studies, but imo human management in itself is an unintentional consequence to the economic development, as without a flow of money, there would be no reason to maintain that coastline.

anyone else forget what drainage basin planning was or was it just me ?

Quite a few people I spoke to did forget as well, so don’t stress about it. At the end of the day it’s only one 16 marker

the 16 marker for glaciation is likely to be related to human activity (i reckon in a periglacial landscape) as they haven’t asked a human activity 16 marker since 2021

omg you were right! What a king!! Thank you

16 marker on coasts was lovely, talked abt sandbanks for management strats and mangawhai for unintentional impacts.
saltmarshes one was mid- i feel like i talked only about the process of making a saltmarsh and not really on the flows of energy 🤷*♀️
elss 10 marker was tragic, i don’t even remember being taught anything about the cryosphere- lowkey yapped about nothing relevant tbf😔
16 marker on elss was also hard; forestry vs dranige basin planning? like i’m sorry but that’s two very specific strategies, it’s not something you’d focus on memorising as it dosent seek like it would come up for a 16 marker so specifically 😔
oh well 2 more papers to go guys stay strong 💪

the standard deviations ones were a killer. and i completely forgot what a fjord was and started talking about hudraulic action which is completely wrong

Them coasts questions were just evil, the 16 marker was a dream but salt marshes? really? and not even working out the standard deviation, you have to say why. There goes 14 marks ...

i just guessed for the standard deviation saying it was less spread out. I completely forgot what a fjord was and started talking about hydraulic action lol. 16 marker was okay, i talked about sandbanks and Mangahi Pakiri coastline but i completely forgot like the impacts i.e the erosion rates. And then that 4 marker in ELSS about monitoring changes to the carbon cycle, i had no clue

The first question on salt marshes really threw me off.. I focussed on the energy flow side of it bc I couldn’t really remember the actual process of salt marsh formation 😭. Also the ELSS 16 marker was so evil.. how can they ask us about 2 specific management strategies. All I wanted to do was talk about afforestation and water recycling instead bc I actually knew that.

same, i hated that salt marsh question. Luckily though i predicted the 16 marker on ELSS so knew it farily well but then some infomration i just forgot during the exam. The standard deviation questions in coasts were awful. i thought they could only test us on mean, mode, range, IQR so thats 0 marks

No one talking abt the 4 marker on ELSS😭😭😭

genuinely had no clue. i said something so stupid lol, i said it can help predict carbon in the atmopshere and help come up with management strategies e.g if more vegetation and trees need to be planted

I don’t know what place specific detail I could’ve used for the ELSS 10 marker I genuinely dont know if wrote enough for 10 marks , deffo failed that

i didnt use any for that as well, I dont think you needed to, just explain how the water and carbon cycles link

Guys - Good Luck! We've got this!

How'd you find it? Personally i found it quite hard. I revised fairly well but all the info went out fo my head during the exam. I really didnt know about salt marshes in coasts and for ELSS, i had no idea on that 4 marker, for the ELSS 16 marker, talking about forestry and maintaing them was fine but a bit unsure really on drainage basin planning

what the hell was that paper it was so bad… i skipped the 10 marker for elss cuz of timing and i even have extra time… and like i didnt know what drainage basin planning was so i talked about water extraction and dynamic equilibrium. but coasts was ok elss i literally think i got 7/33

i think i did badly as well, i hated those standard deviation questions and all the key figures and the impacts such as the erosion rates and the impact of sandbanks ive forgot. in coasts, i talked about the REASONS to manage the sandbanks such as like tourism, and water sports, and blue flag beach and sheltered entrance to poole harbour and how groynes and beach recharge does this. Overall tho, especially on ELSS, i didnt do well (although for 16 marker, i knew about forestry but nothing about drainage basin planning)

How was everyone’s NEA’s? My teachers said it was going well then I got a D 29/60 😭😭😭

I got 59 but won't be surprised if they dock me 😬

That’s correct.

Reply 197

I’m cooked. I needed an A in geog but my NEA was only 30 and I feel like I deffo didn’t get over 75% in that paper.
