Post- feminist— they do stories on vegan friendly stuff rather than beauty and fitness but a counter point was that the Ramla Ali story started by her losing weight so still fits into the male gaze
Then did one on the male gaze itself- scarlet Johanson on the front cover she’s quite a sexualised celebrity for her role as black woman but then a counterpoint was that she is wearing bold makeup which subverts the theory and is quite artistic which is a new context that women want to be treated as more serious than sexual
Gq was that men are becoming more metrosexual- Jonathan Bailey in a high end suit and he openly discussed his sexuality and struggles with being gay in his industry- showing men can be vounrable
Then the last para was on toxic masculinity- Robert pattionson wearing a wife beater, covered in bruises and chains applies toxic masculinity making men still seem violent and agressive but a counterpoint was that if the audience knew the intertexuality that he was doing a new film he just wants to make a new image for himself

Overall the question was nice but I realised after the exam I only talked about gender and should’ve mentioned how there’s a lack of ethnic diversity

I think as well I included one paragraph on how both now operate online and provide a society for their viewers that links to how audiences want a sense of community

i talked about how our modern society uses technology so it’s important for them to converge online and about toxic masculinity and breaking stereotypes
