Hi everyone!
How are we feeling for our sociology exam?
The topics I study are:
Paper 1 (19th May 2025) - Culture, Socialisation, Identity + Family.
Paper 2 (4th June 2025) - Research Methods + Social Inequalities.
Paper 3 (13th June 2025) - Globalisation and the Digital World + Crime and Deviance.

Do you think they could specify with age and ask youth or childhood specifically? surely there's not that many studies we can include for that

I’ve never seen a past paper like that before, so I doubt it tbh

I feel like age is definitely a contender because the only time it came up was for Q3 in 2018 but that was how age is rapidly changing - the only sociologists I'm aware of for the youth would barely cover anything beyond question 1 and 7, the same with nationality because most questions on background are related to ethnicity not nationality - I'm just praying it's nothing outrageously niche

I wish we had a crystal ball to know what might come up, but predictions are usually inaccurate so I'd just revise everything anyways - even if only briefly.
I've been given a few predictions from my teacher based on what hasn't come up very much in the past.

Paper 1 - Culture, Socialisation and Identity
Subcultures
Peer Groups
Nature vs Nurture
Formal vs Informal Social Control
Hybrid Identities
Ethnic Identity

Paper 1 - Family
Postmodernist View of the Family
Sexuality and Family Diversity
Social Class and Family Diversity

For family, roles and relationships between parent and child (power) / roles and relationships between partners (conjugal roles relating to power) always seems to come up in some form so I'd definitely revise that!
