Anyone have any predictions for this paper?

Reply 2

my school had a spare of p1 and let me solve it, seemed pretty standard and the same difficulty as last year. paper 2 is where you get ahead, know your tests inside and out

Reply 3

Would anyone happen to have a list of all the assumptions of the hypothesis tests? Thanks.

Reply 4

How did it go for everyone?

Reply 5

Good apart from question 5c about the manager and quality assurance - what did you guys put? I had no idea what hypothesis test to use. I ended up using a binomial and choosing an arbitrary p value. I stressed about that question so much

Reply 6

Did anyone do wilcoxon rank sum test for the tennis question?

I tested binomial proportion p=8/30 and used the formulae for the approximation to the normal distribution and rejected null hypothesis and said Matt had no difference with Andy’s judgement?

Reply 8

what were your null and alternative hypotheses?

Reply 9

Null is p=8/30 and alternative is p doesn’t equal 8/30

I reckon you can't, cause that's what you use to calculate the test statistics

Reply 11

I thought about doing p=0 and p>0 but that didn't make sense

I tried with that and didn’t work so just used 8/30 as a guess lol

Reply 13

I feel like there wasn't enough information given for the test

Reply 14

Btw did you use Wilcoxon rank sum for the tennis question and did you say both colour and font style were significant with that ANOVA test? I wasn’t sure with these

Yes and yes 🎊🎊

Reply 16

Wilcoxon rank-sum cause I don't think it was paired? Wasn't clear at all I thought

Yeah that’s what I thought but I felt this paper was very ambiguous with what they want us to do and the context sometimes seems confusing

I did a two sample test for proportion and had Andy’s proportion as 30/30 and matts as 22/30, reckon you could also do a one sample proportion test for matts and take it as P=1 too.

Damn I think we were meant to put p=0.5 and p not=0.5 for a difference or not, I thought of that then crossed it out :frown:
