I feel like the questions were all pretty fair apart from that one 5 mark test that no one knew how to do so I reckon they'll be similar? I hope more than 3 people get an A* this year though 😅

france ireland question you had to do paired t test pretty sure , cause it was a test for difference and them saying it wasn’t symmetrically distributed meant wilcoxon wasn’t valid . also the confidence interval u had to calculate sample variance and use t distribution

Beware the wording you use here. Did it say the distribution of the DIFFERENCES isn't symmetrical? that would discard a wilcoxon but if it just said not symmetrical this does not. Also remember a paired t test requires a the distribution of differences to be normal

Finally done with a level statistics god bless, unwatching this thread and not reading any of the answers. Good luck to everyone 👍

yeah tbf cant remember off the top of my head - you could be right . i initially did a mann whitney and then i scribbled it out and did paired t test because it they mentioned the word difference, what other tests apart from wilcoxon and paired t take into account differences? sign doesnt and nor mann whitney. idk its over now ill assume i got it wrong lmao

I didnt sit the paper this year so was just curious, didnt want to make you doubt yourself! I sat last year and got an A*, i like to hover around and see what came up this year

I did spearman rank for that question, we can’t use Wilcoxon tests because they require a symmetrical distribution nor Pearson product as they require normal bivariate data which isn’t the case

Didn't even think of spearman's rank but I would've thought that would show if the two are correlated rather there is a difference the average number of people

I thought that as well everyone has done something different for that question

I did wilcoxon signed rank

Don’t think you’d be able to as a condition for that is it’s symmetrical about the median
