Translation
use this site, you can tap on each word to work out its meaning: https://hands-up-education.org/aen1notes/index.html
then use this site alongside it to memorise the translation: https://www.poetryintranslation.com/PITBR/Latin/VirgilAeneidI.php#anchor_Toc535054292

go through extract make minimum 8 short points like this:
[author] uses [language device(s)] in the line "[latin]" ("translation") which creates [named effect + explanation]. [link back to question focus]

for example, for virgil 1.12-123 a question like how does Virgil make the winds appear powerful? you might say:
virgil uses chiasmus (an ABBA structure) and dental alliteration in the line "luctantes ventos tempestatesque sonoras" ("struggling winds and roaring storms") which creates a sense of the roaring aggressiveness surrounding and encapsulating the very winds, and is mimetic of their sound as they struggle away from Aeolus' grip. this creates a sense of power and aggression to the winds.

Hi! I'm doing Aeneid book 1 for tommorow and I don't think I know the translation well enough (however I do know a lot of the analysis).
How can I learn it fast? (I've heard anki is good but I can't afford it ☹️ )
Thank you, any help would be greatly appreciated.

SOS I struggle so hard in my lessons and my teacher talks too much and never asks me questions I have no clue what I have to do for this paper nor the name of the texts all I’ve looked at is a poem about two poets writing on tablets and a woman cooking for a god I think(?)! Are these what I need to know for it if so what are they called 💔😭

Hey, I think your talking about the texts Baucis and Philemon (elderly couple are hospitable to gods - I think this is the woman cooking for god point you mean), and Poetry and Friendship from Catullus (writing tablets). If these are the right text, you most likely were also studying another poem called Catullus invites a friend to dinner. Hope this helped

Same. My god, it was heavenly. I did the 8 marker before as a class test, so it was good. The translation was simple, and the 10 marker felt like a very predictable question, which was so good to include with context. But, still, (knock on wood), I am remaining calm.

I did Baucis & Philemon, most people have found that pretty good!

I did Aeneid which I found pretty good except I've never seen a 10 marker only on one character so I struggled a bit for quotes.
