Separation proof

My mum is in uni and student finance is asking her for proof of separation, my parents have only recently stopped living together and planning to get a divorce. Student finance wants a decree nsi/conditional order. This would take a minimum of 20 weeks to obtain, which is obviously far too long. Is there any other proof she can provide? A letter from a solicitor or possibly proof of a legal separation?

Hi Olivess345,

I have provided a list of acceptable evidence for a separation or intention for divorce proceedings.

Decree Nisi, Conditional Order or Decree of Judicial Separation.

Decree Absolute or Final Order.

Dissolution Order.

Most recent Council Tax Bill only in their name

Letter from a solicitor confirming marital status

Statutory declaration

Certificate of entitlement to a decree can now be accepted with either a current or future date.

An Application/Petition for divorce with confirmation that the application has been submitted (this could be a notice that the application has been submitted, an acknowledgement receipt or case number shown on an email or letter from HM Courts and Tribunals Service, or a copy of the application stamped by HMCTS)

Thanks, Clare
