What do you guys plan to do if funding doesn't come? Just curious, does it make sense to defer the offer? Cause no one knows how it's gonna be next year. Or maybe you have other ideas, some external funding sources?

well i'm pretty sure (could be wrong, double check) that Oxford says financial reasons are not grounds for deferring, which is very classist n elitist 😭 but that's Oxford lol. otherwise that's exactly what i'd do

They always give more offers than the amount of spaces there are on a course, because they know some people wont be able to take it up for financial reasons. thats why

If anyone doesn’t get an award, last year I was rejected from an AF scholarship but managed to get one this year! But you’re not allowed to apply for most scholarships on a deferral, so you’ll have to reapply.

Emphasis on the fact I wouldn’t be able to go to Oxford without it, plus talked about getting a first at my undergrad.

Other than that, not that much difference in both applications, after looking back at both of them. Just luck, I guess.

I can’t speak for other departments, but my app was based on written work, SOP, and proven academic potential.

Could be for more competitive or oversubscribed courses that interviews are necessary.

It feels like PhD. offers holders weren't as successful as MSc candidates. I have only seen one notification from a part time PhD. Does anyone know why this is the case?
