St Andrews vs Bath vs Bristol

I received an offer to study MSc conversion in Computer Science at all three universities. Which offer should I accept?

Hi, I'm starting MSc C&IT at St Andrews this September. Have you studied this course or did you accept an offer from Bath/Bristol?

Hi there,

Congratulations on all your offers! I am a postgraduate student at the University of Bath so I can give my insights into the university/city. In terms of the university setting they are all quite different. Bath is a campus university - I prefer this as I found I can have good separation between work and home. The campus is really nice and has plenty of study spaces, including spaces in the city as well. I have a friend who did MSc Comp Sci and he really enjoyed the modules he did and found his project gave him a lot of experience to talk about for interviews. Bath Uni has very good postgrad employment statistics! Bath and Bristol are very close by, 15 mins by train, and I often go into Bristol for music events / bigger nights out. Bath, by comparison, is a smaller and more quaint city but I personally love that! I can always find a new coffee shop to try and there are lots of green spaces. Generally speaking, the cost of living in Bath and Bristol is quite high - rent is on the expensive side. I'm not sure what it's like in St. Andrews. Bath has a lot of postgrad accommodation available. If you aren't able to go and visit the cities, I would advise looking online at virtual tours - lots of universities made them during covid so that should help you get a feel for the university. My advise is always go with your gut: which university do you feel you'd be happy at? They are all well regarded universities so wherever you end up you'll get a fantastic degree!

Many thanks,
Hannah - Uni of Bath Rep
