Best pathway for a beginner in IT

I have applied at my local college for the Diploma in L3 Computing Principles and due to enrol soon.
I was wondering if this would give me enough knowledge to get a job in an entry level IT job.
I am new to the industry and changing careers due to having problems with my physical health.

I am ex armed forces and have access to a huge amount of free tech courses inc CompTia a+ n+ & s+ for free including a huge variety of other courses and certifications. I plan to get as many as possible before I start college in September.
I just want best advice on career paths in the IT field that aren’t going to be to overwhelming when starting out and any advice on which certifications to start with.

Hi Gazrobbo_10m

Wow it sounds as though you have a really exciting courses and learning plan in place, it sounds super. With regards to the certifications to start with, you could have a look at some websites, including https://www.itonlinelearning.com/blog/comptia-networking-courses-your-path-to-it-careers-in-the-uk/ which seems to focus on the IT industry careers as this will give you an idea of the career paths available after the course.
The gov.uk website also offers a careers service, here's the link: https://nationalcareers.service.gov.uk/discover-your-skills-and-careers. There is a contact telephone number on this page too which will connect you to a careers adviser. If you explain the courses that you are enrolled on and the other certifications available to you, the adviser may be able to give you some suggestions about the best path to follow
Does the college that you are studying for your certifications have a careers adviser? If so, you could book an appointment with them to ask their advice too.
I hope that this has been some help for you,
Good luck with your course, I hope it goes well, and if you have any other questions, please just ask!
