Private or Family Life Status
Good morning,
I am assisting someone to apply for Student Finance. Her current immigration status is “Private Life or Family,” which is valid until June 2025.
She initially entered the UK in 2012 through her ex-sister-in-law, who is British. However, following a divorce and the breakdown of relations with her ex-husband, she has lost contact with his family. Are any alternative routes or documentation options that do not require involvement from her ex-husband’s family? If so, could we download any forms and which evidence she would need to provide?

Could I also add another question?
Another applicant is EU Pre-Settled and is a dependant of his father. He has applied for Student Finance, and the SF team contacted him requesting completion of an employment form with information about himself and his father.
The issue is that the father has been retired for over three years and no longer has documents to prove he worked in the UK before. What alternative documents can be provided along with the employment form? Would documents related to his pension be sufficient?

Hi ADMUNIAS,
If they are applying for a Maintenance Loan and only hold pre settled status, either their father or parent would need to provide employment evidence so they could apply as the family member of a Migrant Worker or they would need to provide their own employment evidence to show they will be continuing to work in the UK throughout their studies to apply a Migrant Worker themselves.
