Changing to a combined course after getting an offer for something else?

Basically, I applied for sociology at Liverpool uni because I didn't think realise they offered combined degrees. At every other uni i applied for sociology and politics because thats what I want to study. I received an offer from liverpool for sociology but I havent accepted anything yet. Do I email them to ask if they can offer me a place on a combined politics and sociology course instead and if I do is there any chance they'll say yes?
Hi Izzy,

Congrats on your offers!

I would encourage you to think carefully about the course you want to study. If you are confident that you would enjoy a sociology and politics course more then there is no harm in ringing up Liverpool to see if they can offer you a switch. This may not be possible and there are no guarantees but it is worth a try.

However, how would you feel if they could not offer this? Would you still be happy studying straight sociology?

I hope this helps, best of luck!

Email the Uni and ask. You can phrase this in a 'just asking' tone so that you would still be able to think about this before agreeing to any switch, And - you are not risking your current offer by 'just asking' so you have nothing to lose.

If you decide that you want to switch course, there is also a chance that the uni will allow you to do so now. They say that it’s best to switch before the course starts or as early as possible after it has started because it is more difficult to switch later in the year.
