Final offer holder day this Saturday (?) and no outcome on application yet?

Hi, would it be safe to 'assume' that if you've not heard from Warwick yet and the last offer holder day is this coming Saturday that after this weekend the chances of you receiving an offer are highly unlikely?

it would just seem strange (to me) to still make offers beyond this weekend if there is then no opportunity to visit on an offer holder day.

Wondering what experiences are of this in the past perhaps? Do Warwick make offers really upto the last day even if they've run all the offer holder days?:curious:

with thanks

I actually called them today (On behalf of my son) and asked this question as he's also still waiting, they said there are still offers to be made and some will be after the offer holder day. I asked about the status of his application and they said that It's still processing!!!!!! He applied in Oct 2024!

This is a super useful reply with thanks 🙂 can I ask what subject your Son is waiting to hear back on??

I can only assume there is possibly some hedging of applications going on with such late replies still o/s. Perhaps waiting on applicants who end up firming other choices in the lead up maybe, leaving more space for them to play with 🤔 It cant just be volume at this late stage, as I would really hope that for all subjects they'd have looked at applicants at least once by now. But what do i know 🤣 I'm not in admissions and I now they have a tough job and also would hope they do really fully consider all their applicants.

It's tough for me not to just sit here thinking that he's waiting for the last hour of the last day just to get a rejection from his final o/s option 🤪

I've done the Uni process 3 times with children now and it never gets easier as a Parent, it actually seems to have only got harder.

I think Warwick gave out some offers in May last year so try not to lose hope. Also just an FYI theres also a virtual offer holder day on 7th May (could just be my course tho) so maybe offers can still be made until then?

He’s applied for PPE, and agree with everything you’ve said. My son is still waiting for UCL as well so also called them this morning, they said a similar thing, that they’ve been closed for a week and have just returned back and are working hard to get replies out ASAP. They said not hearing back so far has no relevance on whether it will be an offer or rejection. I did say it’s unfair that the cutoff for replies is after A levels start, she said they’re hoping all offers/rejections will be finalised by then

yep, i find the UCAS cut off v's decisions & outcomes/accommodation entry openings just doesn't align in any helpful way. And yes when you add in the fact they are starting A Levels from 12th May... it's just mind boggling. They all need to know where they stand as they go into their A Levels really 🤪

Not a lot of co-ordination at all! With my daughter 3 years ago it was far easier and she'd had all replies by mid February but her uni/subject choices weren't quite as competitive as my son's. I really hope they all know their fate by end of this week/early next week so they can firm/insure and put this behind them, although I think I'm more stressed than my son! He is happy with the 2 offers he's had so far (KCL & Bath) but would really like to add UCL to them which would be his firm. It would be nice to add Warwick to the mix but isn't that fussed about it. Best of luck to all

I just called them to hear about how my own offer is processing and they said the same thing about the offer holders day, since they have until the 14th of May from ucas they said there’s a chance that it could take until that last day to get an offer and that there was no way of attending the day unless you have an offer, which isn’t great as I haven’t been able to visit any of my unis at this point

Best of luck to us indeed. I'm also more stressed by this than my Son 🙂

🤪 that's just so frustrating, exams are underway then. I'm in agreement with another user that this would be so much kinder to students if these decisions were made ahead of them entering exam period, rather than having it still lingering. I'm sorry you've not been able to attend any of your uni's. I've been to a couple of offer holder days with my Son and I found them quite useful as a Parent. Where have you applied to, just in case i attended an offer day and can thrown any insight out there for you

thank you and yes honestly that would be much more comforting and help reduce the stress a tiny bit 😅 my American friends have a much better system currently as they got their grades a few months back and just have a few exams that end before mine even start here in the uk. They’ve managed to secure unconditionals at Oxbridge because of their much more efficient system and I honestly hope the uk moves towards a more similar approach. I’ve applied to Warwick, Edinburgh, UCL, Nottingham and Manchester.

Well i've not been to the offer holder day for Edinburgh (as we wont be firming or insuring it) but I truly liked Edinburgh as a University and City. It's a really friendly city and the staff seem great, we were just unsure on the 4 year course in the end and my Son didn't want to convert to the 3 year fasttrack one as we understood people make friends during the first year and it's harder if you do the fasttrack 3 year. But it's really well regarded as a University, so if you get an offer there I'd seriously consider it 🙂 I have a Daughter at Nottingham finishing her second year soon. She has had a great experience there. The campus is really very nice and quite large. Facilities for studying aren't bad at all and she had 'catered' halls for accommodation. I wasn't sure on catered halls before she went (didn't ring true with my idea of being self sufficient students) however, she made a great and wide ranging circle of friends from day 1 as a result. They are all still her friends now and it was really useful in terms of finding people to live with. Travel into town is easy, it's a big city centre as well which for her she really liked as she really wanted to spread her wings. There is a great sports centre on site, many eateries, handy shops and even medical help if you're unwell. It's quite a thriving and buzzy campus. She has been truly happy there.

Not sure how helpful ANY of that is 🙂

I have been to the Warwick open day (not offer day, clearly lol 🤪) but the open day was great. I thought the campus was well laid out, really nice facilities. Good vibe to the place. a Great sports centre, with climbing wall and swimming pool. Athletics track slightly off the campus. A good arts centre and even a cinema complex. They have thought of a lot of things, which i think is because the campus is out of town a little so people quite reliant on the campus for everything. good student union vibes, plenty of eateries and little shops to avail of. Accommodation all seemed good and most people we spoke with fed back well on thier experience. If you're looking for a huge clubbing party scene then maybe not the one for you, but if that's not a concern they are well equipped to cover off most societies and socials. I also think they operate a matching scheme in terms of helping you make connections ahead of joining - which sounds cool. Academically they're strong absolutley.

Thank you so so much 🥰🥰 this is so helpful and such a useful insight )) honestly you’ve only convinced me to pick Edinburgh and Warwick more and I definitely will consider them even more if I get an offer from either of them now (sadly the 2 I’m waiting on)!!!

To be fair, they can only set their Offer Holder Day so close to exams, because nobody would risk attending
