there's been so many sad ones
emergency care is very stressful and the critical care unit too its really sad to see people halfway between life and death
an episode i vividly remmber was the elderly woman fractured her hip and because of her age they couldn't operate so they basically told her she was gonna die in the hospital and she said something like "well i can't complain I have a good life"

I also wish there was more awareness on the fact that women are more likely than men to develop osteoporiasis which increases the likelihood of hip fractures - this is due to menopause as it increases bone resorption
if you look at the waiting list for hip surgery there is a disproportionate amount of women on the list compared to men

so girlies don't neglect your calcium :heart:

my nan just got a double knee replacement! and my friend who is elderly is also due for a double knee!

My nan has double hip replacements and my other nan has a shoulder replacement (and my grandad has a knee replacement)

yes very common with aging!!
from what ive been taught it just happens to men less especially in the hips - with knees everyone uses their knees loads

Most of them originate from historic injuries to be fair
