Changing A level subjects

Hi all, I applied to Peter Symonds college and picked A levels biology, chemistry, geography and mathematics.

However, I then decided I was interested in economics A level (but not at university, weird I know) and during my college interview I asked my college to change maths to economics.

Shortly after I received a conditional offer and I very gladly accepted it. Then, my indecisive brain suddenly decided that economics was boring so I called my college and asked them to change it back to maths, and they said they would.

Now I was just wondering, will I have to get accepted again? Would my conditional offer be revoked or something because my courses changed?

Many thanks to anyone who can answer and best regards

No, I don't think they would revoke your offer because you changed your course. But you should definitely explore maths and economics A-levels in depth, as 4 A levels is a huge undertaking and you don't want to end up grinding a subject you wish you hadn't taken. Idk about economics but if you are good at GCSE Maths and enjoy it, I advise you to take Maths.

Thank you for the response! I appreciate it.

My college forces you to apply for 4 A levels, and then on welcome day you try them all out and then decide on the top 3 you want to do so it isn't actually my intention to do 4 A levels

Unless your uni has specified you need economics then it'll be fine, usually good manners to shoot an email to admissions just to let them know but it won't effect anything!

I go to Peter Symonds (year 13) and changed my choices. In August you will be invited to join and enrol and that is where you make your official a level choices. For the first month people were also swapping in and out of different a levels and there is a lot of support to help you do so! Good luck it’s a great college, just wait to speak to them when you enrol

No worries, honestly don’t worry just focus on GCSE’s for now! If you’re still undecided in a few months they’ll definitely be willing to help!

Hi! At least from my experience, on results day, most sixth forms allow you to change the subjects from what you originally applied for if you want 🙂
