How likely would I be to get into Mech Eng?

I recently dropped out during the 2nd Year of my Architectural Technology Course due to a career change.

I am now looking to pursue a career in Mechanical Engineering but was wondering my chances of getting into Uni again.

I did a BTec in Graphic Design before so my choices here are to apply to a Foundation Year or do Night School and re-apply next year but would that be enough? I understand MechEng is a competitive course which is why I am paranoid I will just waste my time trying to get into this course.

Also I didn’t have a great record during the First Term of Second Year due to wanting to withdraw (20% Attendance and failing my first module). Would they give a terrible reference and further mess up my chances of Uni again?

I would ring a few unis to ask. Good unis which might be more flexible would be somewhere like Brookes.
