Exploring the progression of a theme throughout the play

In order to achieve your desired mark, you must include the progression of the theme/character in the question over the course of the play. In this case, your play is "Macbeth". For example, if the question is on about Lady Macbeth's progression: you would mention her behaviour in Act 1, being ambitious; her behaviour in Act 3 is less ambitious and becomes quite nihilistic (relating to futility/pointlessness) and in act 5, she reaches her final downfall and experiences the demise she deserves for disrupting the Natural Order and the Great Chain of Being.

Embedding context within your analysis of quotes

As well as this, you should include context within your points, but not in every paragraph - only if it makes sense or is relevant to the point you're making. Don't let context direct you into a different direction/focus away from what the question is asking for.

Integrate alternative analysis of a single quote

Another tip I have to offer you is to have alternative analysis for each of your quotations. Make sure your analysis include an overview analysis to define its meaning and certain words that you can zoom in on and explain further with your intentions.

Link your quotes with short quotes from other parts of the play - join ideas together

You should also be able to link a quote to another quote, whether it be short but in another moment. The ability to connect your ideas to another part of the play shows that you have a solid understanding of the Shakespearean text.
