Enetering Medical School This Summer

Hi,

Wondering what plans I should have entering medical school, i.e. what stuff should I buy, read through (in terms of taught material)? How do you plan to spend the summer to prepare for medical school? Should I relax or relax and study basic antomy and physiology using Youtube (ninja nerds)

Does anyone have any suggestions for basic topics, mostly in anatomy and physiology, to study before entering medical school for a firmer start?

And are there any (general) opportunities I should watch for during my first year regarding events, societies, etc?

Thank you!

If you need any books, you'll be told. As well as this, never buy brand new, always try and find second hand from past medical students or find an online copy for free.

As for what to do this summer, simple answer, do nothing! The rest of your life will now be endless studying (not a bad thing) so this will be one of the last times you are truly able to relax. You will have more than enough time as a first year to enjoy yourself as well as studying, so there isn't really much point starting now.
Any medical school student you ask would say the same thing, so enjoy the time you have left!

Societies are great, there is one for basically anything you can think of, so really just join whichever you like the most.
If you are really thinking about a specialty, there will be a society for that medical specialty, but I know doctors that still aren't fully sure what they want to specialise in, so you are in no rush.
If you can, you should try to go to Freshers week, a good way to meet new people and make friends. The main thing to remember is that everyone is just as shy as you, and is also looking to make friends, so just be the one to make the first move, it will work out.

Best of luck!
