Questions about the Music and Korean Studies course

Hi everyone

So I'm currently studying music production at college, and I made my "Firm choice" a music production university in London, and my insurance choice Sheffield University doing the Music and Korean Studies course.

First of all, would I be able to swap my choices around so that my firm choice would be Sheffield?

I also have a few questions about the course:

1. Is the music section of the course catered to people who want to be their own artist/musician?

2. During the year abroad, what are the unis we can go to? Or do we get to choose? I saw someone mention Yonsei as an option.

3. Is the year abroad in Seoul or somewhere else?

4. What job opportunities come from the course? Considering music is a factor as well.

Would love some help!!

Hi jhh2007,
As I study Cancer Biology and Therapeutics, I can't personally answer these questions. However, using the link below you can chat to current students studying the course or related courses (you may have to enter music or Korean individually). Hopefully, these students can answer your questions for you! Here is the link: https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/study/chat
I hope this helped,
Sofia
From their website: https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/las/undergraduate/year-abroad/korea

It seems the year abroad is based in Seoul, at one of 6 different partner universities. I can't seem to find on their website which universities they partner with although google seems to think it's these 6:

Hanyang University
Korea University
Sogang University
Sookmyung Women's University
Sungkyunkwan University
Yonsei University

There may be varying numbers of places at each though. I suspect you would submit a list of ranked preferences and they would try and ensure everyone can go to their preferred uni but where one is oversubscribed, I suspect they would use grades to determine who goes to the oversubscribed option(s). It may also be possible that some of them may require specific minimum grades to go there. This isn't based on Sheffield specific information but more generally how I've observed year abroad schemes seem to be operated at a number of UK universities.
