Student finance payment

So basically, I recieved an email saying if you want to update your bank details then 14th April 2025 is the last date that you can update them. After recieving this email, I decided to update my bank details with Student Finance (only because this updated bank pays one day early).

I didn't recieve anything so contacted Student Finance through their live chat service and was told that my payment won't arrive as my account is suspended. All my payments were blocked and that I should contact the Investigations team for support with my payment.

I contacted the Investigations team and they told me that when I updated my bank details online, this was marked as suspicious because it was very close to the payment date, so my payments were blocked.

I was given instructions to email the Investigations team along with my bank statement and the details of the bank I would like my payment into. I have successfully done this but have not recieved a reply as of yet.

Now, when I login to my student finance portal and have a look at my loan payments.. the payment which I was due to receive has the 'Paid' status???!

I have not recieved my payment in my bank.

What should I do?

Hi there,

Can you please tell us on what date you e-mailed the Investigations team last? Have you not had a reply since then?

Okay, it would be best to wait for them to reply to you and they'll tell you what the next steps are. Please keep an eye on your e-mails for this to happen.

I've been told that I have to wait around 8 weeks for a BACS recall. It wasn't my mistake! I am going to be really struggling with no money to make ends meet ☹️

Hopefully the money will be returned quicker than that.

However, if this will cause you financial hardship you can ask our Hardship team to bring your next payment forward.

If you want to do this you can complete the Hardship form and then upload it to your account. The team will then e-mail you with their decision, normally in around 9 working days.
