Shannon's diversity index H=−(∑(ρilnρi))

I'm having problems with the maths of this forumula I have done the (ρilnρi) part of the equation and got a minus figure what do you then do with this figure using the −(∑ of bit, im hopeless at maths so its really confusing.

Lets say I got -0.56 for the (ρilnρi) part do i then take -1 away from this ?

Any help appreciated
