Hey @hoi_iv!

Have you tried studying in a phone/laptop-free environment? If you turn off your devices and put them in a different room (perhaps one with a family member in it who can hold you accountable if you try to use it), you should be less tempted to try and access your devices during a revision session.

Alternatively, complete past papers under exam conditions by using a timer on your phone; every minute you get distracted by something is a minute you lose to complete the paper.

If you're someone who benefits from a reward system, you could always try and reward yourself with YouTube breaks; for example, 15 minutes on YouTube for every hour of revision you complete. Or, you could use YouTube to watch revision material. 🙂

Best of luck with your revision,
Eve (Kingston Rep).

Maybe don’t study with headphones in (or use earplugs instead). Try do more work on paper or even store your device out of sight like in a different room or behind you.

my family members are usually very loud so i tend to revise alone, and theres an entire setup in front of me so its hard to put them away

I'd suggest putting really loud music on, (I use Loathe or Spiritbox albums) and starting with something I like, like a past paper or flashcards. Generally, that can kind of get me into the flow, then I switch across to something like french🙄

It could also help if you got a family member to just check in on you sometimes, if you leave the door open and have music on, you can't hear them as they come to check on you, sometimes the fear of getting caught just playing games can motivate me to lock in.

There's also a brilliant video on Youtube of someone dressing up as a mum and checking on you every 2-3 minutes, which works wonders if no-one's home.

Hope that helps!

Get off here (I'm also supposed to be revising)

bro I feel you 😭 one thing that really helps me is setting super clear goals early in the morning like “by lunch I want to finish these 3 questions. Then at lunch, I set new goals just for the afternoon. Keeps things short and focused so your brain doesn’t check out. Also ngl, don’t rely on blockers if you can disable them just leave your phone in another room for 25 mins and then give yourself a 5 min break to scroll. Repeat. It’s hard but it works
