Gcse maths help

My maths exam is in a few weeks
I think I can get a grade 8
But the last 2 or 3 questions in every paper that are heavy marks stop me from getting a 9

I would like a 9 but it's just not happening no matter how hard I try

What do I do

I found that the best way to get those last few questions are practicing the hardest questions that have come up. So I found out about these aiming for grade nine papers on this website called mymathscloud. Once on there click on the menu button, course finder, then gcse practice papers, then scroll down and click on edexcel. Then scroll past the maths memes and stuff till there is a section on aiming for your specific grade, and choose grade 9 to get like a bunch of papers constituting of just difficult past paper questions. I hope this helps cause the website is a bit tricky to navigate I think, but these practice papers are gold dust.

Search up firstclassmaths then press revision and exam appearances. it literally tells you how often you get certain types of questions come up e.g. for AQA higher, volume of 3D shapes comes up 100% of the time

Last year i was in year 11 and in march mocks (march 2024) I got grade 7, i thought I wouldn't be able to get 9 but then on results day first grade i saw on my marksheets was "AQA Mathematics - Grade 9". after march mocks I did tonnes of past papers and practice paper from TGMT , dr. frost maths, Sparx maths, On maths (onmaths.com), maths genie etc, these websites are really good for practice and predicted papers (Ask your teachers they might tell you some other good websites too). I did every single predicted paper on TGMT and same questions showed up on actual GCSE exams. I got 71 in paper 1, 77 in paper 2 and 75 in paper 3. I advise to understand everything first and then do only past, practice and predicted papers (complete all available online if possible and do it in timed condition) it might look impossible but if you have passion to do maths this will be really easy for you.

Hey! Just wanted to say that what really helped me improve was sticking to regular practice. I went through tons of past papers, which helped me build that exam muscle memory it took me from a grade 4 to a 7 in just a few weeks. Now I’m in Year 13 doing A Level Maths, and I still follow that same method: practice really does pay off.
My younger sister (she’s in Year 11) recently did some Easter revision sessions with MyEdSpace and said they were super useful. They’re actually running a free GCSE revision cram course right now covering Maths, English, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics I’m even thinking about joining for a bit of extra A Level prep! Check it out here
