First Year Failing Modules

As I forgot to submit one of my assignment in one of my module, which weigh 40%. So I definitely fail this module
This module do not have any exams, its essay based.
I would like to ask whether uni would require me to retake the module in the coming year or resubmit later on or resit in August (I was confused, as there’s no exam, so I assumed I don’t need to resist in August??)

my uni has usually either send people a new task to do or said you can resubmit the same task at a later date just email whoever the module leader is and ask

Hey,

I totally get why you're feeling confused. This kind of situation can feel really overwhelming, but you're definitely not alone in it

Since the assignment you missed was worth 40% and the module is entirely coursework-based with no exams, what usually happens depends on your university’s resit and mitigation policies. In many unis, "resits" don’t always mean exams, for coursework-only modules, resits can just mean you’ll be given a new version of the assignment to complete during the August resit period. So yes, even if there’s no exam, you may still be expected to resubmit an alternative piece of coursework in August.

That said, whether you’re automatically eligible for a resit or need to apply for one (especially if there were mitigating reasons for the missed submission) might vary depending on your uni’s regulations. It’s super important you check your university’s resit policy, or better yet, reach out to your module leader, course tutor, or academic advisor—they’ll be able to clarify exactly what your next steps are and what kind of resit or retake you’ll be doing.

Also, if your uni has a system like Salford does, where every student has a personal tutor, it’s worth getting in touch with them. They’re there to support you through stuff like this, and they can help make sense of it all, or even help you get in touch with the right department.

You're not the first to be in this position, and you won’t be the last. Take it one step at a time, you've got this 💪

Good luck 😊

You will be required to take the resit assessment in August - probably another essay. If you fail it a second time then you may be asked to leave the course or repeat the year
