Quick Guide to staying financially Sane-Budgeting

University life can be full of excitement, but it can also be financially stressful. You have tuition, rent, groceries, and night outs, seen that your money is disappearing much faster than expected. This is where budgeting is very important, a simple routine that can reduce financial distress.

1.

Track Your Income and Expenses: You must know how much money you have coming in from scholarships, part–time jobs, or support from parents or other people. You must also know where the money is going (tuition, rent, food, transportation, and entertainment). Install a budgeting app on your phone to make it easy anytime you spend money

2. Prioritize Needs over Wants: The most important thing comes first. Rent, groceries, and bills. When all that is covered, you’ll then have a clear idea of what you can spend on things like entertainment and weekend plans.

3. Free University Services: Check what your university offers and take advantage of that. Especially the free campus buses. It's a great way to cut down on transportation costs while staying safe and convenient.

4. Set Spending Limits: Set weekly or monthly spending limits, especially for things that are not essential. This will help you control and avoid running out of money before the month ends.

5. Use Student Discounts: Many shops, from food, clothing, and entertainment, offer student discount services. Always ask whenever you are out; you might save more money than you think.

6. Save What You Can. Even a small amount will do. Try to put aside a little each month or week. It could be like an emergency fund or for future goals. This could come in handy in the future if you do this as a habit.
