Hi, I’m Audrey—a recent graduate of the MSc in International Business Economics at City St George’s, University of London. In this post, I’ll take you through my experience as a postgraduate student, what I gained from the programme, and why this path might be right for you too.

Before coming to London, I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Investment Economics. When exploring various Master’s options, I knew I wanted to broaden my knowledge and go deeper into how economies function on a global scale. One of the best decisions I made in my postgraduate journey was arriving early to attend Welcome Week—it made settling in so much smoother. From the first day, the support from both the lecturers and the course officer was excellent. Lecturers held weekly office hours where you could drop in with questions or simply talk through difficult concepts, and staff were quick to respond to emails—usually within hours, even though the official timeframe was three working days.

Beyond academic learning, City St George’s offered me valuable career support, including CV reviews, mock interviews, and career workshops where I connected with alumni, recruiters, and professionals from diverse industries. I also built lasting relationships, and my professors and fellow student ambassador schemes are always happy to support my postgraduate journey.

Is there a lot of math? I have a BA in communications, which I know is out of my field. I don't know if it will be okay since I don't have a strong math background
