Undergraduate Architecture School Work type

So I am currently studying a foundation degree in art and design, the work I have to do is mostly practical however a lot of it is quite intensive writing and research into artists and also talking about all the work I have made. I was just curious to know what people studying architecture are getting up too, are they predominantly producing drawings and adding it to a portfolio with a small paragraph of writing that gives a brief description of the process. Or are they documenting their whole process from the start of the drawing, why they made it, etc. I guess I good way to put it, is that I have to produce like 30% physical work which is backed up by 70% written. how does it differ?

If you're aksing how are prospective architecture uni applicants preparing a portfolio, then you can find examples by googling 'manchester uni architecture blogger'.
