Feel like quitting my job

To begin with, I want to have another job lined up before I quit.

Anyway… I’ve been at my current workplace for several months now it’s not long until it’ll be a year. Honestly, I had thoughts about leaving within the first few weeks of joining. It’s not a very creative or innovative environment, and I just feel like I’m going backwards in my career.

Every day, I dread going to work. I dread going into the office, and most of the time, I feel unhappy. My team is really nice and supportive, though.

Sometimes I worry about what my old colleagues from my previous company might think of me, especially since I still follow them on a well-known social media platform that starts with the letter “L.” I worry they might see me as a failure or someone who can’t hold down a job.

It’s become a regular thing for me to consider quitting, but at the same time, I remind myself that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. I could end up at a worse company or working with people who don’t like me.

I still want to quit

Do you have any advice?
Thanks
Who cares what former colleagues think? Are any of them actual friends in real life that you meet up with regularly and speak with routinely in non-work contexts?

If you don't like your job and hate going to work then you clearly need to find a different job. Obviously as you note, you'll want to find something else before you leave.

While yes you could end up in a similar or worse position, you could end up in a better one. You won't know until you do it but if you dread going to work it's unlikely you'll be in a worse situation as you're kind of in one of the worst positions you could be to start with.

I'd suggest focusing your energy on looking for opportunities elsewhere, and also consider whether you should/need to change fields or explore ways to retrain in another area, if your current and former work is not something you have found suitable.

I think you should give it a year before truly deciding you hate your job, This is because starting a new job can be overwhelming and you have to give it time to learn the ropes, Unless there something serious like a racist boss etc just give it some time before quitting, This way it wont "look bad on your cv" and youll truly know you dont enjoy the job. You can then think about what exactly you didn't enjoy and what you did enjoy which will give you clarity about what to look for in the future.

Hey there,I understand where you're coming from; it can be tough when you're feeling stuck in a job. Before making any decisions, though, I would suggest taking a moment to reflect on your own role in the situation. Sometimes, we can unintentionally contribute to the challenges we face at work.
Remember, it's okay to seek change, but it's also essential to ensure that you're addressing any personal factors that might be influencing your feelings. Good luck!
