Choral scholarship?

I'd really like to get a choral scholarship at uni but I'm not sure if I'm good enough for it?? I'm currently working at Grade 6 Singing (I would've done the exam by now but am struggling a bit with the grade 5 music theory- hopefully itll be done this term though). I get distinctions for all my pieces in exams but I'd say my sight singing is quite poor and I'm worried this will hold me back.

There isn't much information about the choral scholarships online so could anyone give me some advice/ let me know how competitive it is? x
I will be auditioning at Oxford or Cambridge and also all other unis I apply to (not sure which yet). It would also be helpful to know which ones offer good scholarships/ have good choirs.

I would be really grateful if someone with experience could help me out here!!

Sorry not of much help here! Not a chorister/remotely linked to it.

I will say though that heaps of choirs at Oxbridge are more low key than the ‘prestige’ ones which offer formal scholarships (Jesus at oxford comes to mind). So there definitely is ample opportunity to sing if scholarships don’t go your way.

The sight reading required will be for reading your part in a choir not for what is needed to pass grade exams.

So how good is you sight reading in the choir that you currently sing in?

My boyfriend auditioned and was offered a choral scholarship at Oxford (Merton College) and he is always saying how bad he is at sight singing, especially because he doesn’t do A Level music so doesn’t know all the specific musical terminology etc., but he still managed to be offered a scholarship. I hope this will reassure you a bit!
