Can your insurance uni offer a foundation year if you miss the grades?

When students miss their firm uni offer by a grade, some universities (not all) still accepts them with the condition that they do a foundation year first, before they start first year. I know quite a few people who has been through this last year so it is a thing. But, I was wondering if anyone knows if those universities do this for their applicants who put them down as their insurance too or do they only do that for applicants who put them as their firm?.

Yes, they could. On results day hey could turn your conditional offer unconditional, or give you an unconditional offer for another course, incl foundation. It's upto you to decide whether to accept.
