Hi there, congratulations on your offers! Have you found yourself leaning to one more than the other? Have you looked at their showreels- did one stand out to you more? Does one location appeal to you over the other?

Edinburgh (like most/if not all(?) Scottish universities) is a 4 year course- that's probably worth playing a role into your considerations. If you're Scottish you might be eligible to not pay tuition fees at a Scottish Univeristy. If you're not Scottish, you'll have to pay tuition fees for an extra year, so you might want to be particularly sure that it will definitely be worth an extra years' worth of fees. (Obviously a lot of people don't expect to ever pay off their student loans, so this may not be that important to you - but it also might be!)

I know a little bit more about Manchester Met and i'm relatively unfamiliar with Edinburgh so i'm possibly a bit biased here but I think I would probably lean a little towards Manchester, knowing they are relatively selective (a good friend of mine was rejected for Man Met animation when we were applying to university together). They seem to get consistently good outcomes looking at their odds of sending people into relevant industries. They also score a little higher on most university comparison metrics like Discover Uni but that's definitely not something to base a decision around since a lot of that data is a little arbitrary. But I would absolutely take all of what i just said with a pinch of salt given i'm not hugely familiar with either course.

If you're feeling like you'd be a lot happier at one over the other you should absolutely go there. You can um and err about this sort of thing all day and it's much more important you find somewhere where you feel like you have the best opportunity to do well.

Hi @T1llyt

Have you received an offer to study animation with us? if you have, congratulations! 🥳

Our BA (Hons) Animation degree is part of our innovative School of Digital Arts (SODA). Worth having a look at the SODA webpages to get an idea of what facilities are on offer and the industry partners that we work closely with: SODA. If you're on Instagram, you can give our SODA account a follow too: @schoolofdigitalarts.

The Programme Lead's details are on the course webpage if you would like to get in touch - might be worth a conservation. And you're very welcome to contact our Course Enquiries team with any questions you may have: [email protected] or (0)161 247 6969.

Hope this helps.
Mel 😊
