Hi @modus0perandi,

40% will likely get flagged for review (depending on your uni's guidelines), so it’s a good idea to try and bring it down aiming for around 25% or lower if you can. Are there any long quotes taken from sources that you could paraphrase or shorten? You could also add more of your own critique or reflection, especially where you disagree with sources or spot any gaps. That usually helps reduce similarity and strengthen your argument too.

Hope that helps!

As long as everything is cited then it's indicative more of a generic, derivative essay than it is of deliberate misconduct.

I never once bothered checking any of my work, I honestly don't know why you would if you've cited everything and it is sincerely your own work.

most of my introduction and methods is highlighted as plagiarised but none of my discussion is. its so frustrating. im trying to change the wording but it didn't even go down that much when i checked it. like my contents page is highlighted too. idk.

i get it. i'm just paranoid i guess since its like worth most of my grade. none of my discussion which involves most of my results and further info ive referenced is highlighted. just mainly my intro and discussion :')

Hi,
I wouldn’t worry too much about it for those sections there’s only so much ‘original’ wording you can use for the contents, introduction, and methods, and the marker will understand that. Personally, I wouldn’t bother changing anything unless you think it’s genuinely going to improve your dissertation 🙂
