Hi @modus0perandi,

Unless otherwise specified by your university, acknowledgements can be written in the first person and can include the names of people who have helped you, such as your supervisor, family, friends, etc (but NOT research participants due to anonymity). Just keep it professional—avoid anything too humorous/informal.

As for the appendices, here's a format I follow:

List the appendices in the order they appear in your study.

Each appendix should be referred to at least once in the main chapters of your research (e.g., "see Appendix A").

Some common materials included in appendices are:

List of interview or focus group questions asked (depending on the methods used).

Blank copies of questionnaires/surveys (depending on your research methods).

Anonymised qualitative data analysis (e.g., thematic analysis tables) if used.

Any stimuli used in your study, such as vignettes, pictures shown to participants in experiments, or mood boards/collages used in focus groups, etc if used.

Make sure each appendix (e.g., Appendix A, Appendix B, Appendix C) starts on a new page and is clearly labelled and titled.

Hope that helps!

Hi, yes, the appendices go right at the end, after your bibliography/references. You can label your screenshots the same way you would a Figure, but instead of 'Figure 1: Database Input,' you would label it 'Appendix A: Database Input' or whatever your label is going to be 🙂

Hi, no worries these are good questions 🙂 I put mine at the top but I don't think it matters too much - whatever your preference is!

My PhD acknowledgements were ridiculous (as were some of the examples int he thesis itself), professionalism is overrated
