Warwick or Bath for Psychology ?

I’m deciding between Warwick and Bath to study psychology, both seem to be good at psych and have good employment prospects but I’m unsure if there’s anything else that sets them apart exactly. Any thoughts ?

I always thought Bath was amongst the best in psychology.

Hi there Stham,

Thanks for reaching out and congrats on your offers from those two great unis 🙂 I'm a Bath psychology grad so thought I'd leap in and try and help.

Both Warwick and Bath are good unis all round and for psychology specifically - Bath being higher than Warwick in the league tables. However rankings shouldn't be taken as truth as they will not tell you which uni is right for you.

I genuinely loved my time here at Bath. The campus culture is really friendly, the quality of teaching is excellent and the support you get from the department when finding placements (if you are doing the placement course) is extremely helpful. The city itself is small but with a remarkable amount to do for its size - shopping, street food stalls, independent coffee and tea shops, green parks, the royal crescent, plenty of pubs and a few nightclubs and cocktail bars. I think there is more to do and more life in Bath than there is in Coventry, although Coventry also has a little shopping district with some nice restaurants and a couple of supermarkets.

I also loved the variety of the course at Bath - I personally got to do all kinds of modules - cognitive neuropsychology, affective neuroscience, biological, sports psychology, organisational psychology, forensic, health psychology, clinical, developmental, educational, language development, social psychology, the psychology of autism. It differs year on year but theres always a lot of variety in what you study.

One thing I'd say about Bath is that the uni is on a large hill meaning you'd need a bus to get to and from town, whilst Warwick uni is flat and so you can walk to the local shops from campus.

So which course do you like better? Have you had the chance to visit these places? Did either of the campuses make you feel at home? Perhaps write a Warwick VS Bath pros and cons list to see if one emerges as a winner?

I would for one 100% recommend Bath because of the placement opportunity, the excellent quality of teaching and all the chances to get involved with research and other things on campus such as work, societies... its a really good experience all-round at Bath not only academic 🙂

I hope this helps a bit - best of luck and if you have any more questions please let us know!
