How do UCAS predicted grades work?

I recently did my mocks for year 12 and I think I really messed up. I think my grades will be absolutely horrifying. If I don’t meet entry requirements, does that mean I basically won’t get in? I really think I messed up and I’m really scared because my school is very strict with predicted :frown: what happens if I improve in year 13 for my real alevels? I’m so scared and stressed because of my mocks I seriously don’t think I’ll be able to get into any of the courses I want :frown:

Hi there,

I’m from wales so luckily my UCAS grades were based on real exams I sat in year 12. My friend from swindon is currently in year 12 and was in your position and was sure she could do better in her exams than her predicted grades from her mocks she sat in January. I told her to let her school know this and they gave her the opportunity to sit the mocks straight after the summer, as UCAS application deadlines are in january (schools tend to make them earlier, Nov-Dec). Let your teachers know!!! and if given the opportunity as bad as it sounds revise during summer so as soon as you come back you can resit the mocks in september. 🙂

The whole point of Year12 exams is for you to get an idea about the level you need to be working at.
If you got low grades then you need to be doing far more work in Year 13. It really is that simple.

Well, my head of year. well someone similar to my head of year said that if we don't do well in these y12 mocks then we will be kicked off the course and potentially have to "Explore other options".. Of course we can retake, and pay for the year retake but they said they don't really do that. Furthermore, I haven't revised for my Y12 mocks this morning so um.
Yeah idk, hope I don't get kicked off the course. :sob:
