Based upon those unit grades you get an overall D, Distinction.

Hey really sorry once again
Do you mind telling me the final grade if everything else stays the same but for unit 3 I get a Distinction

And once again everything else is the same but unit 2 is a distinction

Unit 3 is a 90 GLH internal (coursework-based) unit. A merit in such a unit is worth 15 points, whilst a distinction is with 24 points. So your overall points would increase by 9 points from 78 to 87. That would leave you on a D overall, as you need 90 points for a D*

Unit 2 is a 90 GLH external (exam-based) unit. A merit in such a unit is worth anything between 15 and 23 points, depending on you mark and the applicable grade boundaries. Your first post says, "lowest mark possible that gets me a Merit" so we used 15 points - the bottom end of the possible points range. A distinction in such a unit would earn you 24 points. So your overall points would again increase by 9 points from 78 to 87. That would again leave you on a D overall, as you need 90 points for a D*.

hello, about the unit points to grade, does the unit points mean how much marks you get on the paper?

Almost. Each unit you do earns you points. They then total those points to establish your overall grade.

For coursework-based units, the points you earn depend on the size of the unit (in GLH, guided learning hours) and the grade you achieve, using this table from the specification (here):

For exam-based units, it works in a similar way, but the mark you get (relative to the grade boundaries) also impacts the points you earn. So if your mark was just enough to hit the P boundary, then you get the points for a P (see the table below), and if your mark was just enough to hit the M boundary, then to get the points for a M. However, if your mark was midway between the P boundary and the M boundary, then you get the points which are midway between those for a P points and those for an M. The same is true if your mark is one quarter of the way through, or one third of the way through, or whatever. More marks means more points, even if you don't reach the next grade boundary. Here are the points for just hitting each grade boundary:

Once they have your points for each unit, then sum them up and lookup your overall grade in this table:

You can use the above information to calculate your overall grade by hand, if you like.
