Parents on universal credit going to uni

Hello everyone!
I will be starting university in September and I'm very excited. I must say I am very confused about the student finance application for my particular circumstances. I lost my job last year and became a single mother at the same time. I have been on universal credit during my access course, with my only option being jobseekers allowance. Is anyone else in the same boat as me? I have 2 children both school age and plan on getting whatever I can from student finance. I think i am aware of everything I can claim but am unsure how to fill out the application form for dependants grant. I am unsure whether I will also be entitled to some tax credits elements of universal credit still. Can anyone relate or possibly give me some insight into how to navigate this?
Thank you 😊

@Gemmach1
I'm sure you will do great at University 🙂 With quite a complex situation, I would speak directly to Student Finance England 0300 100 0607 The Citizens Advice Bureau are also very good about benefit enquiries
