sympatric speciation aqa a level bio

how exactly does this occur? There was a question i saw about how 2 different species of birds have different temperature tolerances and eat different sized food. they evolved from sympatric speciation. But how exactly does sympatric speciation occur when the birds arent even geographically isolated so theres no difference in environment/ selection pressure?

The absence of a physical barrier aside, the uneven usage of resources and the habitat choices of different organisms make it impossible for these organisms to develop any new species. And thus, it is not the birds' physical injuries to each other that are the primary cause of this special event of a new species; it is their extreme liking for their environment and their desire to mate within that same environment that keeps them apart. Exactly, the behavioral and habitat characteristics are the main drivers of the process of speciation of this kind.
Here are my two cents!
