Extenuating circumstances

Hi, I am in year 12 and my school said I qualify for extenuating circumstances at uni (illness, victim of 2 serious crimes and abusive parents to the point social services and the police have gotten involved) My question is, how will this affect my application? Will I be more likely to get in? Will I be able to get away with doing less supercurriculars as my circunstances have affected me a lot mentally and physically? Thanks

All unis have a widening access policy to accommodate individuals who have not come through the usual route of study. Anyone taken into care by the social services and put with foster parents will be considered for the widening access route. It sounds as though this is the case for you.

Look at the course you are interested in at the university you are interested in and you will see that there will be a lower offer by one or two grades fo widening access.

Supercurriculars relate to Oxbridge entry mainly so you are best writing to each university for advice.
