medicine without needed alevels

so i went to college instead of sixth form which i would say is my biggest mistake, and now i find myself thinking about studying medicine in uni. i am aware that this is a veryyyyy difficult situation with medicine being extremely competitive but i thought i’d ask if anyone has been in a similar situation and succeed.

for reference i did a level 3 extended diploma in health and social care and my gcses are average (5 in english and maths). i never really planned to do medicine so i didn’t try hard enough for the grades if you get me.
i have heard of access to HE in medicine but i am a bit wary that it would get me accepted into an university like king’s college (especially because of my gcses) i have also been told of the route if doing an undergraduate in medical sciences and then graduate medicine but i am also not very sure about how that works.

has anyone being in a similar situation and what did you do? and again i am aware it is quite unserious of me aiming for medicine after not preparing myself in school for it but please give me genuine advice

No worries, you can do medicine after doing foundation year, which offers students who didn't pick up right A levels for medicine so that will be total 6 years not 5.
