insurance offers

I’m currently trying to decide what universities to firm and insure. my firm choice is sociology at bath and the offer is ABC/BBB. however i wanted sociology and philosophy at royal holloway to be my insurance but the offer is ABB. my other offers are sociology at surrey, Southampton and kent with offers of BCC of BBC. I’m not really interested in surrey Southampton or kent so should i just insure RHUL as there is a chance they will be lenient if i miss my offer or should i just put one on the unis i’m not as interested in.

I think put the one you actually want to go to, as there's no point putting ones you're not actually interested in. If you don't get in, you can always go through clearing.

Your chances of getting into Bath if you miss a grade is still pretty good so don't worry too much about your Insurance.

You nay check the historical admission grades data from UCAS to have a glimpse of the likely situation.
Hi there,

Great to hear you've decided on Bath as your firm. I will of course be a little biased but I personally loved my time here as a psychology student and would highly recommend the uni (I found the research, quality of teaching and placement scheme excellent!).

As above, you should not insure a uni you do not want to go to, and so insuring RHUL sounds like a good plan. I would be mindful of looking at historical admission grades because that data will include contextuals as well which may bring the lower margins down. However we do sometimes accept people if they are a near-miss, but there is no guarantee on this and how many we can accept varies year on year.

I hope this helps and wishing you the best of luck come results day! 🤞

Dear student

Speaking from my personal experience Southampton is honestly a great city. There’s always something going on, loads of student-friendly places, and a really nice balance between city life and green spaces. As far as insurance options go, I think BBC is a solid safety net, especially if you’re not sure about hitting ABB.

I’ve really enjoyed both the university and outside of the city life. The campus has a great community feel, there are so many societies and events to get involved in, and it’s just a really welcoming place overall. Even if it wasn’t your first pick, I think you might be surprised by how much you end up liking it! Hoping to see some exciting news from you very soon!

Best wishes

Hi,
I hope you are well!😊

Choosing your firm and insurance choices is a tough decision, and one which should be considered thoroughly! After all, you don't want to be using one of your choices on a university you do not wish to go to.

I'd definitely recommend making sure you weigh up your options really well, thinking about accommodation costs, the course, support services, and student life etc.

Try and visit the campuses too! Or join virtual tours, and talk to current students through platforms like Unibuddy.

UCAS offers some really helpful information on replying to your offers, for example, when choosing your insurance choice, choosing a university you still wish to go to but one which has lower entry requirements may be a good idea.

Although you have said that Kent is not your firm, I have loved my time here at Kent. I am part of the School of Social Sciences and have loved all of my lecturers and have built such good relationships with them. My teaching has been so engaging and my lecturers and tutors have been very approachable and supportive. I've also had lots of opportunities to make friends, get involved in extracurriculars, paid work around my studies, and have been part in some great panels too! Canterbury campus is also a lovely open and green campus where everything you need is all in one place. Canterbury city centre is only a short bus ride or drive away from the campus and has a range of places to eat, shop, and spend time with friends. Have you visited Canterbury campus? Was there anything which is putting you off putting Kent as as an insurance?

If you have any questions about the Sociology or other Social Science courses here at Kent, or about the other opportunities available to students, then let me know!😊

Best wishes for the future!
