help me understand predicted grades for uni

So most of the unis I want to go to would like us to have predicted BBC grades in our A Levels. Would some still accept if you were one below this target, e.g. got predicted a BCC? Or would you get an immediate rejection? Thanks

I’d say it depends on the course and uni tbh. Admissions officers look at your whole application, not just grades, so I doubt it will be an automatic rejection as your grade is just one off, if you have a strong PS and reference it’ll make a difference. Universities tend to be flexible, they’ll give some people reduced offers depending on what they have already achieved, the strength of their application etc. but I would consider if the course is highly competitive, then it’s probably more risky to just apply for these unis - have some backups regardless! I’d also speak to a tutor or email admissions staff to ask advice.

Predicted grades can be off so unis know this. As long as you are not predicted CCC when the requirement is BBC then you should be ok. Most unis will accept you if you drop one grade from the offer anyway; they would much rather have a student who actually wants to study that subject at that uni rather than taking a BBB student through clearing who did not apply to them.
