Is studying Computing from 2nd year in Greenwich worth it?

I applied for Cybersecurity at the University of Greenwich. Instead, I received an unconditional offer for Computing BSc starting from the second year. Since I originally wanted Cybersecurity, which is a much more specialized area than Computing, I’m not sure if this course will align with my future goals. I also don't want to spend two years and money on a degree that might not be worth it. Especially at a time when even Computer Science graduates are struggling to secure jobs, I’m unsure whether I would be able to find employment after graduation. I know this is a bit personal, but I would really appreciate any advice or hearing about similar experiences. Thank you so much in advance!

I guess you need to decide if Greenwich is right for you. Perhaps this is something else to consider:

At The University of Buckingham we offer 2-year UG Computing courses that allow you to specialise in either Cyber security or AI & Robotics. Whilst we still offer BSc Computing we like to give all our UG students the chance to look at the specialisms for themselves and choose. Take a look at BSc (Hons) Computing (Cyber Security) (2-year degree) | University of Buckingham to see if this meets your needs, bearing in mind that taking your degree in just 2 years will get you out to work sooner. You can apply to us direct (or via UCAS) but this could be a better option than not taking the course you wanted. Being a small university, we focus on every student, and have achieved Top 10 in Computing for Graduate Prospects (Complete University Guide 2025) and 1st in Computing for Teaching (The Guardian University Guide 2025).
Why not come and see for yourself at our Open Day on 28th June Open Day June 2025 | The University of Buckingham
Hope to see you there
